Asus Laptop Brightness Too Low: Tips and Tricks to Boost Your Screen Brightness

If the above tips did not work at all to fix your screen brightness improve, it is likely that the LCD inverter in your laptop is failing or has failed. This little piece of hardware is in charge of the backlight on your screen (i.e. the thing that makes your screen bright).

Do not try to find it yourself as you may void the warranty of your laptop by opening up the chassis. It is likely hidden under other pieces of hardware and you risk causing permanent damage to your laptop by trying to remove it yourself.

Asus Laptop Brightness Too Low

It is our recommendation that you take your laptop to a professional if the screen darkness continues after you try these fixes. They may be able to locate the exact cause of the issue and give you a better idea of what the possible fixes are.

Mac does not appear to have this issue as often as Windows laptops do but if you do find that your Macbook screen is dim at full brightness, one solution is to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) which, among other things, controls the backlit display of your Macbook.

The adaptive brightness feature makes your PC readable irrespective of the brightness level of your location. It does this by reducing and increasing screen brightness as the need arises, regardless of your settings.

The built-in ambient light sensor in some Asus laptops detects the light level in an area and automatically adjusts the screen's brightness. But if you're giving a presentation or trying to conserve battery power during a meeting, it can help to control the screen brightness. To get more control over the brightness of the screen, turn off the ambient light sensor and adjust the light level manually.

As the title stats my screen max brightness had been lowered quite a bit and after messing around with power settings, going to the manufactures website to download another graphics driver, using Google and searching through forums I find myself here wondering what to do next.

My biggest success/temporary fix came from downloading and installing the lenovo recommended driver for windows 8.1(Intel Extreme Graphics Driver) which restored my screen it its full brightness for about 10 minutes before crushing my hoped by reverting back into darkness, of course I checked the settings again and removed/reinstalled the driver a few times and got similar results each time so I decided to seek out professional assistance if possible.

Well some of the laptops have brighness settings in bios setup. For instance dell always have brighness settings under video tab. There you can increase and decrease the brighness. Press F2 go to setup and find video and then ac and dc brighness. Good Luck

I was looking for the answer and found the error because mine was doing the same thing.Go to Power Options and then "display" and then unclick where it says to adjust the brightness right under the brightness bar.

I had similar problems with my sis laptop and after all and all going through all the settings even taking it to a technical specialists of which none of them could still find the problem, so there final suggestions was to change the motherboard

The only thing that worked was to go to Device Manager > Display adapters > and disabling whatever graphics you are using. That will half solve the problem... because you won't be able to adjust the brightness.

I found that Lenovo laptops have a keystroke that instantly zaps your brightness I never remember what is it until I have done it.I restart laptop, then when the 'Lenovo' logo appears, press the +brightness button. For me it brings the brightness right back to normal.

For me, the problem was with the Intel Graphics Power Plan settings, which is located in power options, POWER PLAN, change plan settings, change advanced power settings. the problem was my power plan on battery was set to something other than Maximum Performance. I set it to Maximum Performance on both options and all powerplans and now my laptop brightness is fixed to maximum. hope it helps.

Problem is not in settings for brightness its actualy in driver settings for display , Just click right click and pick graphic setting , then u will find monitor looking icon there and u will see setting for colors , and under colors u should have 3 bars with light , contrast and gama ....those are actualy what makes your screen not so bright ;)

I disabled the integrated graphics chip on my computer which dimmed my brightness significantly. I did this in the first place to fix a game rendering and just turned it back on and my brightness was fixed.

Y'all, my screen brightness setting was not working worth a darn and then i noticed that I could also adjust it by using the keys on the bottom of my monitor. That is what worked for me. I almost ripped my hair out and beat the computer into pieces.

Playing HDR content while running your laptop on battery can reduce battery life. Therefore, your PC manufacturer might have turned HDR off by default for when you're running on battery. You can change the default power setting if you want.

If HDR is turned on when your laptop is plugged in and then you unplug your laptop, HDR will be turned off to help save battery power. If you plug in your laptop again, HDR will be turned on again automatically.

Select Battery options, then select the Allow HDR games, videos, and apps on battery check box or the Allow streaming HDR video on battery check box.If HDR was already turned on when your laptop is plugged in, HDR will now stay on if you unplug it and run on battery power.

You might need to adjust the relative brightness of SDR and HDR content for your HDR-capable display. This is because a display interprets an HDR and SDR signal differently, and the results will vary by make and model.

On a built-in HDR display, the brightness of SDR content is controlled by a separate brightness setting, or it might be controlled automatically. (For more info, see Change screen brightness in Windows.) Since the brightness of SDR content is already set, the HDR content brightness setting will change the brightness of HDR content relative to the brightness of SDR content.

Brightness setting. When viewing HDR content in a bright area, you might need to increase the brightness setting to see the display. However, this will reduce both the effective dynamic range for HDR content in apps and the overall contrast because the darker pixels will appear brighter. To improve the appearance of HDR content, view HDR content in a darker area and use a fairly low brightness setting. If the brightness is set to a very low level, that will increase the overall contrast between the brightest and darkest parts of the content. However, there will be less details in the darker parts of the content. For example, if you have a scene in a movie that shows a dimly lit room at night, you might see less details in that scene.

SDR content brightness or HDR content brightness setting. For most times, using the default SDR or HDR content brightness setting or one close to it should work well. You could set the SDR or HDR content brightness setting higher to help improve the overall contrast between the brightest and darkest parts of the content. However, this would reduce the details in the darker parts of the content, such as a scene in a dark room at night.

On HDR-capable laptops, the default power settings will turn off HDR when running on battery power. This can cause undersaturated colors after restarting your PC. To avoid this, plug in your laptop before restarting it, or change the power settings to keep HDR on when running on battery.

On a built-in HDR display, the brightness of SDR content is controlled by a separate brightness setting, or it might be controlled automatically. (For more info, see Change screen brightness in Windows 10.) Since the brightness of SDR content is already set, the HDR/SDR brightness balance setting will change the brightness of HDR content relative to the brightness of SDR content.

HDR/SDR brightness balance setting. For most times, using the default HDR/SDR brightness balance setting or one close to it should work well. You could set the HDR/SDR brightness balance setting higher to help improve the overall contrast between the brightest and darkest parts of the content. However, this would reduce the details in the darker parts of the content, such as a scene in a dark room at night. 2ff7e9595c
